These designs were developed from my doodles as I travelled from Northern Thailand to Lao and on to Vietnam. On my journey from Chaing Mai to the border crossing, I stopped at ‘The White Temple’ (Wat Rong Khun) in Chaing Rai, Thailand. It was covered with ornate sculptures representing the journey from heaven to hell. I drew some of the evil creatures as I was travelling along the Mekong River and developed it into a pattern. I was also inspired by the magnificent mountain scenery in Lao.
